Susanne Nickel

I am an instructor of English for Specific Purposes, teaching mainly technical English and Business English in our BA and MA programmes. My second area of teaching expertise is intercultural competence, and I provide intercultural trainings to both home and international students.

Background

Following an MA in English Studies from Leipzig University in Germany, I went on to study for another MA in Cross-Cultural Communication and TESOL (Teaching English to speakers of other languages) at Newcastle University (England). After graduation I held research positions revolving around mobile-assisted language teaching and intercultural learning before joining Mittweida University in January 2014. I hold several teaching qualifications including a General Certificate for Teaching in Higher Education, the Certificate for Teaching Languages in Higher Education awarded by the German Association of Language Centres in Higher Education, and I’m a certified trainer and examiner for intercultural competence in English (elc - European Language Competence).
