Business and Technical English for Real Estate and Facility Management
Both language modules (2nd and 3rd semester) aim at developing students’ language and intercultural competence in order to act successfully in different global business situations. Students will acquire competences in understanding original texts as well as in oral (monologue and dialogue) and written business communication. Additionally, technical vocabulary related to real estate and facilities management will be introduced, which enables students to express themselves clearly and properly in English.
BUSINESS ENGLISH (2nd semester):
Imparting and consolidation of relevant technical terminology related to business topics such as applications, Human Resources, company structures, financing property, property market,
Development and consolidation of communication skills such as telephoning, describing trends, formal writing style (enquiries, handling complaints), formal style in oral presentations,
Revision of relevant grammatical structures.
Mode of teaching: seminar with 4hrs per week
Assessment: oral “Testat“(presentation – during semester) and written exam (test - during exam period)
TECHNICAL ENGLISH (3rd semester):
Imparting and consolidation of relevant technical terminology related to real estate such as types of properties, describing locations and amenities, buying, letting and selling processes, construction materials, features and fittings,
Introduction and consolidation of language of negotiations such as stages of negotiations, agreeing and disagreeing, tentative language, conditionals, interrupting politely,
Revision of relevant grammatical structures.
Mode of teaching: seminar with 4hrs per week
Assessment: written “Testat“(test – during semester) and oral exam (negotiation - during exam period)
Prerequisites for attending:
No knowledge of Business/technical English required. Students should have a general English proficiency according to B1 level.
