Business English Consolidation - Focus on Meetings/Fremdsprachliche Vertiefung - 33254
The course enables Business students to study and then re-enact various forms of company meetings (e.g. ‘personnel meetings’, ‘shareholders meetings’ etc.). All communicative actions coming to play before, during and after a meeting will be analysed and discussed. These will include:
- networking skills (small talk, emailing, telephoning);
- writing agendas (before), and taking minutes (during a meeting);
- delivering presentations – using effective slides and body language;
- basic negotiation techniques (suggesting alternatives, presenting counter-proposals, ask for clarifications, signal agreement)
- chairing (i.e. ‘to be in charge of and lead’) a meeting;
Teaching format: training/practical course
Face-to-face classes: 90 minutes per week (2 SWS)
Form of assessment: oral exam (meeting simulation) in groups of four, during exam period
Pre-requisites:
Participants should have at least English level B1/B2. Basic Business English skills (such as from the "Fachenglisch" course in your second semester) will be an advantage.
