Technical English for General and Digital Forensics
The aim of this ‘technical English’ course is to provide students with ‘translations’ and hands-on practice of technical vocabulary from the fields of traditional forensics (criminal investigation, court-room language and lab work) and digital forensics (IT-security, cyber-crime, computer ethics etc.). In addition to that, we will simulate actual (linguistic and communicative) work in both fields by discussing case studies, engaging in group work (possibly related to a project development), and by role-playing typical work-related situations.
Along with these specific professional skills, you will also learn how to write application letters for jobs in areas related to your own study field, as well as to present data from a written diagram or chart in a clear and effective manner.
The course deploys a blend of current methodologies in General, Professional or Technical and Academic English. For each topic area, students will profit from task-based learning, meaning they will be engaged in complex individual or group activities such as the resolution of technical or social problems, the discussion of ideas in groups or teams, and also the development of their own projects based on a professional topic or work-related situation.
