Business English for Master Students of Industrial Management
Business English (08W27) and Advanced Business English (08W30)
The aim of these two Business-English modules is to train all four language skills (listening, reading, writing, speaking) and to deepen and consolidate the proficient use of business language structures. Students should be able to respond and communicate effectively and stylistically appropriate to situations and contexts encountered in the business world.
BUSINESS ENGLISH (1st OR 3rd semester):
- acquisition and consolidation of relevant terminology on selected business topics such as production processes, describing a product, marketing, market research, setting up a business
- development and consolidation of communicative skills such as giving a product presentation, describing trends, writing a business plan
- revision of particularly significant grammatical structures.
Form of teaching: seminar / workshop
Blended learning format: 2 SWS face-to-face and 2 SWS self-study online
Assessment: Product pitch (oral examination at the end of the course) and preparation of a business plan (written examination in/after the examination period)
ADVANCED BUSINESS ENGLISH (2nd OR 4th semester):
- teaching and consolidating relevant specialist terminology on selected business topics such as company structures/organisational structure, job interviews, HR management, working internationally (team building and negotiations)
- development and consolidation of communicative skills such as convincing in job interviews, talking about working conditions, tentative and diplomatic language for negotiations, business correspondence
- revision of particularly significant grammatical structures.
